Sophistication in the heart of Washington Village–SOLD IN 4 DAYS

With every new rehab, Washington Village (also known as Pigtown) is quietly transforming itself into the new Federal Hill–but at a third of the price, for now.  Like proud parents, its residents are quick to point out the attributes of this neighborhood: walking distance to M & T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards; easy access to I-95 and I-295; walking distance to the local pubs and restaurants sprinkled throughout the neighborhood; and
its historic homes.

In 2017 there were 262 renovation permits in Federal Hill.  Compare that to the 561 permits in Washington Village during the same period.  One such permit was for 781 W. Cross Street.  Leone Moretti of Moretti Construction spared no expense in materials utilized in building (the word “renovating” seems inadequate) this 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with 1538sf of combined living space. This is literally a bottom-up, wall-to-wall rehab.  Everything that was old is new again.  Leone, originally from Brazil, started Moretti Construction four years ago.  His design choices and craftsmanship are emblematic of his philosophy: “only the best will do.”  This home features a rough exposed brick wall in the living area, and two bonus rooms in the finished basement that can be used as a third bedroom and an office.  The master suite bathroom features a frameless shower with dual vanities.

Rather than shout, “look at me,” this house conveys a quiet sophistication that buyers are beginning to demand in Baltimore.  The kitchen is a cool white over chocolate hardwood floors, with a gray glass backsplash and stainless appliances.

781 W. Cross Street has a Walk Score of 86 (very walkable).

Here are the walkables from 781 W. Cross Street:

  • 10-minute walk to M&T Bank Stadium
  • 15-minute walk to Oriole Park at Camden Yards
  • 6-minute walk to Culinary Architecture[i]
  • 2-minute walk to Pigtown Tavern
  • 16-minute walk to MARC Commuter rail at Camden Line
  • 4-minute drive to the on-ramp for I-295 and I-95
  • 7-minute drive and 16-minute walk to University of Maryland Medical Center
